Improved UI

The application's interface has been reworked to reorganize visual controls and make UI easier. Now you need to make less clicks to perform frequent tasks.

Simplified network enumeration

Network Enumeration Wizard used to configure target PCs for remote deployment was replaced by a set of actions that allow you to specify target PCs using simple configuration dialogs. You can scan add PCs from a particular workgroup/domain, add PCs by IP range, add specific PC defined by name/IP or add PCs defined in a file.

New and improved features

Features below were firstly introduced or significantly improved in this release:

Introduced an ability to install/uninstall multiple snapshot packages at once using multi-selection in UI
Introduced export/import a Machine Queue to/from a file
Improved compatibility with x64 platforms
Improved Remote Management Tasks
Improved set of predefined registry filters
Improved transformation of snapshot packages to EXE/MSI that can now be installed on different platforms (x86 and x64)

Processes execution

MSI generation options were extended to allow processes execution during MSI installation or uninstallation. You can configure one or multiple processes to be executed before/after installation or uninstallation of created MSI package.

Using alternate credentials

When you configure processes to be executed during MSI installation or uninstallation, you can configure credentials to be used to launch them. So you can launch processes from specified account that have administrative privileges.

Improved network management

The new Network Enumeration Wizard simplifies management of remote PCs. Application now can extract a list of network PCs from the Active Directory in addition to network enumeration approaches, based on scanning IP addresses and using network browser service. The new wizard also allows to export/import configured Machine Queue list to/from text and CSV files.

Adding PCs to Machine Queue by criteria

The application can report a list a of installed software on remote PCs. This information can be used to fill Machine Queue. You can define custom criteria for installed application and fill Machine Queue by PCs, that match this criteria.

Installations generation from snapshot packages

Modules used for snapshots taking and installation generation were improved to offer even more options. Now you can EXE installation or MSI package for any snapshot package. Other improvements include an ability to take snapshots under Windows 7 and to capture drivers installations on 64-bit environments.

Collecting basic inventory information

Now the application allows to collect basic inventory information from remote PCs. This information includes OS name and version, service pack, logged user info. It helps to select right target PCs for remote software deployment.

Version 4.1 is available

Windows 7 support

Starting from this version the application is compatible with Windows 7. It means that you can run the application under Windows 7 to create installation packages and deploy them remotely.

Deployment packages import

Packages import functionality was improved. Now packages can be imported from any repository path you select. It can be import from a local path and from a network share.

Added support of Run Process and Terminate Process actions during packages deployment from Repository.
Added support of file modification date/time in the snapshot module to detect changes more precisely.

New, improved visual interface

A lot of tips, complaints and usability recommendations received from our customers since version 3 release, were taken into account in this release. New visual interface has a new look with a new controls layout, actions grouping and order. In particular, many actions were removed from toolbar and placed to correspondent pop-up menus activated by buttons. Also application preferences page were reorganized in order to split settings by few separated sections.

Check connection status with remote PCs

Networking errors detection becomes easier with integrated connection status checker. It allows you to make a complex check of PCs located in the Machine Queue and detect those that can't be accessed for remote deployment. Detailed diagnostics helps you to fix networking problems easily.

Verbose Live Results logging

During remote deployment process you can see progress on the Live Results tab. Now it shows detailed status messages for every executed remote operation, so you can precisely track a progress. Logging includes information about remote host pinging, privileges checking, retrieving current user information, installation execution and installation results, etc.

Support of copy file without an extension

Now when Remote Deployment Kit installs a package, either from the main application or from the self extracting install file, it can copy files that has no extension. In older release this causes problem as some important files where not copied to remote PCs.

Ignore exist list option

If you don't want to use the Exist rule you can now ignore it. We recommend to not use this feature but we understand if you are making a custom package thats don't need any file existence check you can simply ignore it. Just remember to uncheck this rule in program settings if used.

Import package data from a repository to database

In release 3.4 you can import package data from any repository package into the program database.

Improved file and registry filters

In release 3.4 filters to work with all printer driver installation were improved.

Print spooler support

In release 3.4 was added support to stop/start Printer Spooler service automatically when package is installed or uninstalled and contanis a printer driver.

Shutdown/reboot options

In release 3.4 you can now let Remote Deployment Kit or the self extracting file either shutdown or reboot the remote PC after installation/uninstallation of your package.

Professional and Enterprise editions

Program will now be sold as Professional and Enterprise editions, where Enterprise contains more features than Professional.

Increased ping timeout

Ping time for all remote actions where extended to 3000ms in order to support large and slow networks.

Self-exteracting setup files creation

Program can now create self extracting install/uninstall setup files out from any repositored package.

License scanning

New settings were added to scan registry for license information.

Package installation via Repository

Added ability to move any package to program repository and install it later without having original installation on your local computer.

Shortcut management

Now the program can create and remove shortcuts from remote computers.

Registry parser settings

You can select which registry parser you want to use within your package.

Office 2007 and Office 2003.NET deployment support

Now Remote Deployment Kit can take snapshot from an Office 2003.net and from Office 2007 installation. This type of package requires Microsoft C++ RunTime Library to be installed before on remote computer.

Progress bar for all actions

Now the program can show each action progress.

Merge registry file over to remote computers

Added ability to merge any .reg file to remote computer.

Export registry keys from remote computers

Added ability to export any registry key(s) from remote computer into .reg file.

Support of 64-bit OS

Now the program supports 64-bit operating systems.
