New features are introduced in WakeOnLan and Remote Registry Exporter tools

The new versions of WakeOnLan, Remote Registry Exporter are released with a set of new features. Improved networking module includes an option for re-enumerating network PCs in order to extract network information such as MAC address, for example. It also allows to enumerate specific groups and Active Directory containers to update a list of available PCs, that can change since the last scan. The new versions also introduce the new Machine Queue editor that now consists of the single tab, that is used for configuring target PCs and groups where remote tasks should be executed. Configured Machine Queue can be previewed on a separate tab that displays a list of PCs satisfying defined conditions and log messages that help to troubleshoot networking problems if they occur.

Introducing Network Software Scanner - a freeware software audit utility for Windows networks

The new freeware tool is aimed to help network administrators to collect software inventory information from network PCs. It collects a list of installed programs and updates and stores this information into the centralized database. Network administrators can export collected data to CSV files and also see changes in a list of installations for every PC. Network Software Scanner can collect software inventory information from PCs located in domains and workgroups and is optimized to work even in large networks that include thousands of computers. There is no limitation for a number of PCs that can be audited remotely.

The new MSI Package Builder release features custom actions execution options

MSI Package version 4.4.8 includes a new feature that allows executing custom actions after completion of MSI installation and uninstallation actions. Custom actions can be configured during MSI package creation and can include execution of an executable file or batch script, opening of a file or URL. Custom actions can operate with resources managed during installation/uninstallation and other resources available on the computer where an MSI package is installed/uninstalled. This feature helps to customize installation and uninstallation procedures even for installations that were prepared using the repackaging mechanism.

WakeOnLan 1.1 offers new features for enterprise customers

The Professional edition of WakeOnLan 1.1 includes two brand new features that allow to use the application in large-scale enterprise networks. In addition to MAC addresses extraction methods from turned on PCs, the new version is able to detect MAC addresses for all PCs, despite to their current power state, from Microsoft DHCP servers. As a result it becomes possible to collect a full list of MAC addresses for large networks in few moments. Also the new version enables specifying targets of WOL operation as an Active Directory query, that retrieves the actual list of PCs every time before executing of WOL operation. It makes possible to avoid WOL targets updating every time when a network structure is changing.

Hardware audit improvements in the Network Inventory 5.8

The new version of the Network Inventory extends a list of hardware inventory information reported for scanned remote PCs. Now it includes a list of physical hard drives and their characteristics, such as a model, manufacturer, capacity, serial number and other data. Also this version of the application extends information about memory banks to include a memory type and memory speed info for installed memory modules.

Ping Monitor 4.6 is available with a log export option

Using the new Ping Monitor 4.6 it becomes possible not only to browse all messages about connection status changes in the Application Log area, but also to export a log data. Application logs can be exported to XML and CSV files in order to be used by other applications, for connection health report generation, etc. Export files format can be easily customized if required. Also the professional version of the application simplifies hosts management - now it's possible to add hosts by IP range to save time for manual hosts inputting.

Simplified MAC addresses management in Remote Shutdown 4.4

In the previous versions of Remote Shutdown information about MAC addresses of network hosts was collected automatically during a network scan and used internally, for example, to execute WOL operations. But in some cases by technical reasons MAC addresses can't be detected automatically and should be entered manually. Starting from version 4.4 it becomes possible to get an access to a list of MAC addresses through a new MAC Addresses view and edit it if required. The new version of Remote Shutdown also allows to run MAC addresses scan for selected PC or PC group.

Improved action handlers and system workload in Ping Monitor 4.5

The new release of the Ping Monitor introduces a new action handler type that is executed when connection to host is established. Using this handler you can perform some initialization actions, for example, that should be performed on monitoring start. Also starting from this version you can specify a timeout for custom actions execution, for example, to let remote host to complete startup operation and then run action to manage it. The new version allows also to optimize a system workload by introducing the new option aimed to limit a number of pings that can be sent per second when you monitor a large number of hosts at the same time.

Quick fix is available for WakeOnLan tool

WakeOnLan 1.0.1 is released to address the issue with incorrect MAC addresses detection using Neighbor Discovery method in some network environments. This issue may occur in complex networks that consist of multiple subnets and resulted in reporting of the same MAC address for all subnet hosts. This issue is resolved by applying update to version 1.0.1.

Installation upgrades support in MSI Package Builder 4.4.4

Support of installation upgrades is introduced in MSI Package Builder 4.4.4. This feature allows to define if generated package is an upgrade of another installation. Upgrades are tracked by GUIDs and if they are the same in the original and new installation, the new installation will update previously installed application instead of installing the new application. Now MSI Package Builder allows to specify Upgrade GUID for every installation package. Other improvements introduced in MSI Package Builder 4.4.4 include the new action that allows to repair missing links in the installation project, and MSI decompilation improvements that allow to preserve general MSI information during decompilation process.
