Using Placeholders

Ping Monitor allows you to send email notifications, execute custom actions, and generate reports. The information included in notifications, custom actions, and reports is context-specific, providing details relevant to the current situation. At the same time, the generated content is customizable, allowing you to define its format and contents.

To customize notifications, custom actions, and reports, you can use placeholders in configuration templates. A placeholder is a special token that represents a property value available in a particular context. When a notification, custom action, or report is generated, placeholders are automatically replaced with the corresponding values.

For example, a placeholder can be used to insert a host name, IP address, state, or other context-specific information into an email notification or report. This allows you to create templates that automatically adapt their contents to the current context.

This section describes the available placeholders and the contexts in which they can be used. Since each placeholder is available only in specific contexts, you should follow the rules described in the following chapters when configuring templates.
