Overriding Operation Settings
Remote Shutdown provides you with an option to configure the MAC Address Scan options and the WOL Configuration settings to be used for operating remote Machines. These options are available in the program preferences. But what if you would like to use different settings for handling specific set of Machines? The fact is that you do not need to modify the program preferences to reach this goal; hence the behavior of the scheduled tasks remains the same, you can just override the common settings for specific tasks and operations. Let us take a closer look at the settings overriding process using the WOL Configuration settings as an example.
The feature of overriding operation settings is available only in the Professional and Enterprise edition of EMCO Remote Shutdown. With the Free edition it is only possible to use common settings define in the program preferences.
The option of overriding the WOL Configuration settings is available on the Wake-on-LAN tab while editing task properties. To override the WOL configuration, you should check the Override WOL packets configuration option, then perform the required changes. To reset the settings to common, you can use the Reset to common link. In addition to overriding the Wake-on-LAN configuration options, it is also possible to change the default settings using the Change common configuration link. The same concept is used to override the MAC Address Scan settings both for Wake-on-LAN and MAC address scan operations. As you can see, the approach is easy and can be used to reach maximum flexibility during the operations configuration process.
